this is the most beautiful example of german engineering ... the first ever supercar ... the mercedes 300SL ... the car had a complex, tubular-truss chassis ... this dictated the unique roof-hinged doors ... since the tubing ran halfway up the car, conventional side-hinged doors would have compromised frame stiffness ...
